Chinese Cupicakes....What?????

Chinese Anyone???

You may think you are looking at yummy Chinese food dishes, and you are sort of correct. There is one slight difference with these yummy treats.... they are cupicakes decorated to look like Chinese food. Did I fool you? These are 100% cake, icing, and sculpted candy.

Have you ever seen Chinese food inspired cupicakes? I found the idea for these in a cupcake decorating idea book. I had no idea I would have so much fun sculpting all of the vegetables and then the creating these fun cupicakes.

This past weekend we celebrated my son's birthday. Two of my son's favorite things are Chinese food and Bar-b-Que, so we had both. I created these Chinese food cupicakes and we took them to a Bar-b-Que joint that came complete with the mechanical bull. Oh my gracious did we have a whoot of a good time. I think my favorite coment of the day was said when my neice said to her dad when his sampler plate was brought out, Oh my gosh that is the expensive one; to which her dad responded; It's ok, I do have a job.

These were a hit with the family members that came out with us. The fried rice is rice crispy treat and the noodles are frosting tinted and then piped on to look like noodles. These were so fun to make and even more fun to eat.

Happy Birthday Son!

Going Bananas!!

Welcome to the very first blog entry for The Diva Baker. I am starting to write a new chapter in my life and try baking. I love baking yummy things and love even more, sharing these yummy treats with others. I hope you try some of my treats, and if you have tried them please tell others how much you loved them. Check back frequently to see what's baking in my oven.

I used the freshest, very ripe bananas, organic sugar, and unbleached flour for this recipe. I am trying to create recipes that are yummy in the tummy but are healthier too. As I post more of my creations in the future, I will strive to use healthier ingredients that help me keep the best flavors possible.

I wanted to kick off my treats with this yummy Banana cupcake that has walnuts and mini chocolate chips in it. It is topped with fresh whipped cream and rolled in finely chopped walnuts. These were a big hit yesterday for two events; Nourishing Connections Meet-up Meeting and then later in the day for my cousin Lisa's birthday cupcakes. The walnuts and chocolate chips were her request. I custom make my cupcake toppers. These are so much fun to create, and I love that I can personalize them for whatever the event calls for. Also, making these fun toppers allows me to use my paper crafting skills with my baking products.
If you would like to order a dozen of these yummy cupcakes they are $24.00 a dozen. Please allow 1 day advance notice for ordering. Phone or email me.
